WandaVision Episode 1 and 2 (Spoiler-Free Review)

The day has finally arrived, my fellow Marvelites. WandaVision has finally premiered it's first two episodes, setting a befitting mysterious beginning to an all new phase of Marvel content. Content that all of us have been waiting for a year and half. I think we have officially had the perfect break after the events that was Avengers Endgame and we are now ready to dive back in this ever expanding franchise.

So, let's get into it. Unfortunately, unlike most reviewers and critics out there who have seen THREE episodes of WandaVision, the rest of the world have instead only TWO to watch for the rest of this week until next Friday when they premiere the third episode. Yes, for those of you who do not know, WandaVision will be released episodically every week to torture me... I mean "us" for the next 7 weeks filled with suspense, more unanswered questions and more easter eggs to unravel now that we do not have to rely on several trailers to do so.

Without spoilers, I can say that the first and second episode is set in the 50s and 60's respectively paying homage to sitcoms from those two decades (e.g. The Dick Van Dyke Show and Bewitched) with Wanda and Vision, now married living in the suburban town called Westview. The comedy in this first two episodes is very well... vintage and sometimes either is actually funny or is just ridiculous (considering since we have all evolved from the 50's... or have we?) Amidst of all the fun and games, a mystery/thriller looms in between that is just waiting to come out and I honestly cannot wait for that sheer perfect MCU bubble to burst and knock our eager socks off.

There's so much to discover and unravel with the show being inspired by Tom King's Vision limited run as well as the epic House of M storyline that scared the shit of us way back when. The fact that these two episodes have only scratched the surface of this all-new what might be a limited show, excites me to the core. Also, don't forget you guys, WandaVision will be setting up the storyline for might be Spider Man 3 alongside Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness which are both simultaneously currently in production.

Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany are without a doubt the absolute stars of this show and honestly, it is about damn time it was. They were always the center of my attention ever since their meeting in Age of Ultron and I am so happy that we are finally going to be seeing them together for what will be six whole hours combining all the runtimes of each episode. Kathryn Hahn's character is Agnes but honestly, we all know who she is, come on. We get to see other guest stars, including the first appearance of Monica Rambeau. Gosh, I am just bursting with Marvel fever.

All in all, the first episodes feel very sitcom-y and it's great, leaving the exciting at the end. Hopefully this trend will change as the show progresses. I might not be complaining but I am just worried about the rest of the world. Eagerly waiting for next week and hope you guys reading have Disney + or some other platform to watch the first two episodes of WandaVision, streaming now.
