The Umbrella Academy 2

I couldn't wait to review the second season of this amazing show. If you guys don't remember, I reviewed Umbrella Academy season 1 way back last year in my previous blog - that was sadly shutdown after a bunch of people starting boycotting it apparently because there were spoilers in it. Then again, I promise you no spoilers will be spilling today, or anytime soon. Especially with this all new review for the return of the Umbrella Academy.

Before we start, I would like to say that the first season was great. Yes, it may have gotten 40 something million views on Netflix or whatever, but nobody I knew had heard of the Umbrella Academy ( apart from my sister and her friends ). Umbrella Academy was almost the sleeper hit that Stranger Things almost got when it came out but after the reception both shows garnered, calling them sleeper hits were not appropriate anymore.

Anyways, to recap; Season 1 introduced us to the members of The Umbrella Academy; Number One also known as Luther, Number Two also known as Diego, Number Three also known as Allison, Number Four also known as Klaus, Number Five (he wasn't given a regular name, sadly), Number 6 also known as Ben ( who is dead by the way when season 1 starts ) and Number Seven also known as Vanya. These children were adopted by an eccentric billionaire named Reginald Hargreeves who trains them and make them child superheroes. The main story of season 1 was how their childhood affected their adult lives and how they live it now, only to reunite when dear old dad passes on. Along the way, there  are twists, turns, bad ass superhero action all throughout the first season that ends with a ball busting cliffhanger in the tenth episode.

More than a year later, season 2 is finally here and like Stranger Things 3, I managed to watch the new season in a day. ( With my sister this time, of course. ) Season 2 is a 10 hour roller coaster of unaswered questions, mysteries and plot twists that keep you on the edge of  your seat for all ten episodes. What was great was the tone of show which was just as great as the first season, with the constant bantering of siblings and the high level weirdness that runs through the show. If you're not aware of what the story line for season 2 is... then, I shall give a very summarized version of it.

Basically, season 2 takes place seconds after season 1 ends where the Umbrella Academy accidentally travels to the 60's to stop the Apocalypse that happens in 2019 only for it follow them to the 60's which changes certain things in the timeline. There is no freaking way I am telling you more because If I do, I have a feeling the Commission would find me and kill me ( if you have watched the show, you would understand this reference ).

The ensemble cast is amazing as ever. My favourite characters are basically all of the siblings. Each struggle that each of the siblings go through are struggles, I think, everyone goes through, making the members of the Umbrella Academy one of the more relatable superhero teams ever made. Getting know them even more through this season makes you love them and appreciate them even more.

Apart from the mind-boggling plot and further character developments, season 2 was all-around entertaining and meant for the die hard fans who have been waiting for this season as much as I was, and the wait was definitely worth it.

Watch The Umbrella Academy. Streaming now on Netflix.
