Finally an Enjoyable, Original Disney Movie That Makes The Holiday Season Better (Godmothered)

Yes, you guys. Finals season is finally over (Well, its over for me) and I can finally start watching movies for the rest of the holiday season. One of them would be one I recently watched during the past weekend and that is Disney +'s all new original movie, Godmothered starring Jillian Bell and Isla Fisher.

Yes, you are probably judging the movie by the look of the poster or if you have seen the trailer then you probably thinking of missing this one but I don't think you should, especially if you are a fan of underrated Disney films. Godmothered centers around a Fairy Godmother to be, Eleanor (Jillian Bell) who wants to get her very first assignment and make a girl's dream come true. She finally comes across a letter by 11 year old Mackenzie Walsh making a wish and she travels to Massachusetts to meet her only to find out that 'Mack' is now a middle-aged widow with two kids. There is more to the story but I shall not reveal more.

Godmothered awfully reminded me of Enchanted ( if you guys don't know what Enchanted is, then you definitely are not going know what I will be talking about in the current paragraph ) for it's humor and charm and especially because Eleanor, like Giselle, from a magical world travels to our world, learning the wonders and bumps of reality. The other funny part that makes a coincidence in this film with Enchanted would be Isla Fisher herself, although Australian, is often mistaken as American actress Amy Adams who portrayed Giselle in Enchanted.

But other than that, Godmothered may not be an actual Christmas movie even if the events of film take place during the holiday season, Godmothered can be watched any of the time of the year and you would still be able to laugh your face off (if you have a sense of humor) and it definitely does fix certain myths of how fairy godmother's should or should not be influencing their godchildren.

These new details of fairy tale magic further proves that Disney is finally becoming more present in modern times for that children are prone to absorb information compared previous generations especially little girls since these days. Parents do not want to encourage their daughters to be princesses and wait for the day she finds a prince to fulfill when she can reach her potential by doing so many other things.

To end this review, I would say that Godmothered is way more than what it looks like in the poster and trailer. It is a family friendly film that deserves as much recognition as Enchanted needed way back then in 2008.
