Hello everyone. I have been gone for a number of days 'cause of exams and studying. I still have an exam due tomorrow and then its all over but I cannot contain the excitement that I had just went through this morning waking up to Disney's Investors Day. They announced a whole lot of movies and tv shows that will premiere in theatres and air on Disney + in the coming years. The category I was more excited about was the Marvel part of the show and they did not disappoint. I am gonna be posting possibly everything that has been announced but for now, in this current blog that you are reading, is all about Marvel.
1) Black Widow (May 7, 2021)
Black Widow was delayed twice in the last year and it is said to be premiering ( cause they're adamant on a theatrical release) on May 7th, next year on the big screen. We all know the details we are supposed to know which is that the movie based on the timeline between Civil War and Infinity War, where Natasha Romanoff made herself scarce from the world after the craziness that was the Sokovia Accords, heading back to her roots, coming across her 'sister' Yelena (Florence Pugh), Melina Vostakoff (Rachel Weisz) her somewhat mother figure and The Red Guardian AKA Alexei Shostakov (David Harbour) where secrets of the Red Room are revealed, origins of the Widow program are finally resurfacing and the mysterious Taskmaster is out on a manhunt for the great Black Widow. I cannot wait for this movie because it will be the first Marvel Studios feature film to release next year. The action is promised to be as stellar as the The Winter Soldier (considered as one of the best Marvel films ever made).
2) WandaVision (January 15, 2021)
WandaVision is actually being released before Black Widow on January 15th and no, it is a not a movie. It will be possibly a 6-episode miniseries putting two of my favourite Avengers of all time front and center. Wanda and Vision return in this mind-boggling new storyline that is rumored to set up the upcoming threat of the MCU, the Multiverse. From what I learned from the creators of the show, this show is somewhat Wanda's storyline from the House of M where she creates an all new reality where mutants rule the world and the man-made superheroes are rebels with a cause but then again, Marvel Studios tends to always surprise us using the Marvel formula to always keep us guessing. With that in mind, Wanda is set to reach a part (not her full) potential of her powers in this show and is meant to bring repercussions to the rest of the universe. I am super hyped for this, its unbearable. Here is a new trailer that was released during the Investors Day broadcast.
3) Falcon and The Winter Soldier (March 19, 2021)
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has been being teased since for the last whole year. Production finally wrapped on October alongside WandaVision and it is finally going to be released two months after WandaVision on March 19th. The show is set to put Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson, two prominent characters of the Captain America franchise, in the spotlight. Set after Endgame after where Steve gives Sam the shield (SPOILER ALERT!), the story continues as the world grapples with the idea of having someone take the mantle of Captain America. Decisions are made, stakes are raised with returning villains and characters in this upcoming Marvel episodic miniseries that will seem like a spy-thriller, a theme similar in the upcoming Black Widow and Captain America The Winter Soldier. Here's the very first trailer of Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
4) Loki
Loki is yet another miniseries set in the point of view of a different version of Loki that escaped using the Tasseract during the time-heist adventure that happened during Avengers Endgame and sets the God of Mischief on an adventure through time, space and possibly alternate dimensions working with the secret organization, the Time Variance Authority also known as the TVA. Cannot wait for more adventures with one of Marvel's fan-favourite characters. I could not find a link to be able to add in this blog but the first look trailer is on YouTube.
5) What If....
What If... is an animated show that is somewhat in the MCU that will be re-imagining events of the MCU that have already been established in past movies into new perspectives and reconstruction. The show has already been renewed for a season 2 and is set to get all actors from the MCU to reprise ther characters in the form of voice acting. The animation is going to be made from cel-shaded animation and from the all new trailer above, it looks pretty good. Again, can't wait.
6) Shang Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings (July 9, 2021)
Shang Chi has officially wrapped production and is set to premiere on the big screen on July 9th. Shang Chi is the first Marvel film to have a cast that is filled with Asian actors playing Asian characters with Simu Liu playing the headline character. Not only will Shang Chi will expand a different part of the MCU, it will expand the Ten Rings terrorist organization that has was introduced in way back in the very Iron Man film and will feature the REAL Mandarin. No trailer was released but they did confirm the character names of the previously announced undisclosed roles.
7) Miss Marvel and Captain Marvel 2
Captain Marvel 2 is in the works currently and set to bring back Brie Larson to reprise her role (and not shoving her away like certain fans out there that want to cause they do not like her). Apart from Larson, Teyonah Parris who is in WandaVision playing an older version of Monica Rambeau is returning to the movie along side introducing Kamala Khan into the movies after her show-run.
And yes.. I was getting here. Currently in production, Miss Marvel will tell the story of a new superhero in the current run of comics, the one and only Kamala Khan. Kamala will be Marvel's first headlining superhero that is of Pakistani descent, a piece of news that is just as revolutionary as it was announced back in the early 2010's when they announced the comic book counterpart to be apart of the All New, All Different Marvel Run. I could not get the first look to be added her but you guys can check the video on YouTube right now.
8) Hawkeye, She-Hulk and Moon Knight
The Hawkeye show is currently in production and might possibly be releasing late next year, or beginning of 2022 and brings our favourite Avenging Archer in an adventure that would widen his story scope in a way that Clint Barton deserves. Other than the obvious fact that Jeremy Renner is returning to play Hawkeye with his on screen wife is returning (Linda Cardenilli) along with their children and the show will introduce the new Hawkeye which was introduced way back in 2005 in the comics, Kate Bishop which has been confirmed as of last week through set photos that Actress/Singer, Hailee Steinfeld will be playing Kate Bishop.
She-Hulk was announced last year in Comic-Con and is set to begin production next year with Tatiana Maslany from Orphan Black to play Jennifer Walters, the She-Hulk herself. With that, Mark Ruffalo is set to return in the show as Dr. Bruce Banner to show how he is doing after the aftermath of Endgame and we will finally be seeing Tim Roth reprising his role as Emil Blonsky AKA The Abomination from 2008's The Incredible Hulk. No other details than that but we will find out more, I hope.
Not much further announcements with Moon Knight other than the already known facts that we will following the adventures of Marc Spector in Egypt in a Indiana Jones style superhero adventure with Oscar Isaac playing the titular role.
9) Ironheart, Armor Wars, I am Groot, Secret Invasion the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
4 all new shows have been announced to air on Disney + in the coming years. two of them are to expand the world of the world of Iron Man with Ironheart and Armor Wars. Ironheart is a character that was introduced in the All New, All Different Marvel run alongside Kamala Khan. Newcomer Dominique Thorne is set to play the titular character, Riri Williams in the upcoming show where she is an inventor like Tony Stark. No news of Ty Simpkins returning anywhere so that is upsetting.
With Ironheart, Armor Wars was also announced. A show that will show the repercussions of the Iron Man world and Stark Industries in the wake of Tony Stark's death with Don Cheadle reprising his role as James Rhodes AKA The War Machine as the lead role.
I am not sure as to what the I am Groot show is about but I know it has something to do with teenage Groot which we met during Infinity War. I am also not sure if it is going to be animated or live-action. They did say so but I forgot. So, for further information, please refer to better sources. But can tell you about the Guardians of The Galaxy's Holiday special which will also be directed by James Gunn and will be filmed during the production of Vol.3. It is set to release on Christmas 2022, I think, before Vol.3 in 2023.
This is what I am more excited amongst the new announcements which is Secret Invasion. I think it is going to be miniseries because it will be airing on Disney + and it will star Samuel L. Jackson returning as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn returning as Talos, the Skrull. The story will be based on the infamous comic book event where a number of people of Earth have been replaced by shape-shifting Skrulls.
11) More Movie News
We already know that Thor: Love and Thunder is currently in pre-production with Chris Hemsworth going through Marvel training, Natalie Portman is returning as Jane Foster while donning her Lady Thor armour as well as Tessa Thompson returning to play Valkyrie/ current Queen of Asgard. But we finally find out the undisclosed role of Christian Bale in the upcoming sequel and he will be playing villian, Gorr The God Butcher.
Finally, a movie announcement we have been waiting for. Ant Man and The Wasp will return for the threequel which will be called Ant Man and The Wasp: Quatumania. Michael Douglas and Michel Pffeifer are set to also return as Dr Hank Pym and Dr Janet Van Dyne respectively. Confirming futher casting news, Jonathan Major from Lovecraft Country is appearing as the villain, Kang the Conqueror in the film and they also recasting Cassie Lang which is a bummer since I liked Emma Luhrman from Endgame.
Finally, Marvel is currently in the early stages of trying to recreate Marvel's First Family, The Fantastic Four in the scope that is deserving of the famous characters and fits into ever expanding world of the MCU. It is definitely vital to introduce the Fantastic Four now that Kang the Conqueror will be in the MCU.
So, that is all the Marvel news that has been announced during Disney's Investors Day broadcast. I hope that this post helps you guys get caught up along with many other articles out there. I might talk about the other announcements soon, maybe on a later note since I have more day of exams left. Need to focus you guys. Anyways, for whoever is reading, Thank You so much for supporting my blog and Happy Holidays everyone.
I know it has been a long time since I have written a review. So many movies I watched a little later because of school and work. But I am back with a review because I was much inspired to write again about this probable cult classic in the horror genre. Abigail is the new horror popcorn flick worth catching before the summer movies roll in. The film revolves around a group of troubled misfits who are hired to kidnap a rich man's daughter to get a handsome amount of money, they are stuck in a house with a child vampire that hunts them down on by one in hopes of getting out without their blood being drained. I will not reveal too much for it is a movie worth catching at your own time to just have a blast at the cinema. Abigail can be seen as just another cash grab for a B-grade-looking horror movie featuring an expensive cast, its quippy script and interestingly written characters, this vampire film isn't like others. Or at least it makes its own bitemark to an overdon...
After 20 years, the Plastics return in an all-new reiteration of Mean Girls, a cult classic teen drama that should have stayed in the early 2000s. No, it is not a sequel or a re-quel. It is very much a remake that is supposed to appeal to a whole new set of fans, possibly. It is also a live-action take on the Broadway musical that was inspired by the original film which, you guessed it, makes this a musical. Many people were skeptical about this idea, let alone knew it was going to be a musical while fans of the musical were wondering if it would live up to it. As someone who hasn't seen the Broadway musical, it is hard to compare because I had never seen that cast, nor have I heard of the musical numbers before this so, I am unaware of that aspect of the film but I have seen the original film that starred Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams. As someone who does, to this day, enjoy the original film, the remake does not live up to its standards but mostly for reasons that are not ent...
With the acquisition of the FOX properties, Disney had the chance to adapt to the world of Percy Jackson once again. However, unlike the last time, Disney makes an adaptation that lives up to the source material as well as embraces author Rick Riordan with production, casting, and various other factors that went into this show. With this first season following suit of the first novel, The Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson and The Olympians of course, follows the titular character learning of his mythological parentage and what that means when he is thrust into this world as he grows older and more powerful as a demigod. When he is chosen to go on quest based on a prophecy, he enlists help from Annabeth Chase and his best friend/satyr, Grover to find Zeus's missing lightning bolt. Anyone who has seen the film that was released 12 years ago would have a good idea as to what this first season will cover but people who haven't read the original book will know the many change...
