Gen Z Step Up (Work It)

Image
Netflix continues to provide us, homebodies, with more cringey movies that we can't help but love... especially with the all new Netflix Original Work It starring Sabrina Carpenter and Jordan Fisher. Work It is a dance movie that used to be the rage of the early 2000's (which I would know since I basically have seen almost every teen musical, dance, rom-com during the 2000's)  Work It reminds of an all new generation's serving of Step Up. If any of you have heard of Step Up, you are the best. If you don't, what side of pop culture are you living in? Step Up was the hit dance movie of the 2000's which not only introduced Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan to the world but also was the beginning of an epic love story for them - which ultimately ended up with the both of them getting a divorce, but that is not the reason why I am talking about this.  Work It is possibly bringing back Dance movies and I'm not sure if I am up for it. Even if my feelings are that wa...

The Umbrella Academy 2

Image
I couldn't wait to review the second season of this amazing show. If you guys don't remember, I reviewed Umbrella Academy season 1 way back last year in my previous blog - that was sadly shutdown after a bunch of people starting boycotting it apparently because there were spoilers in it. Then again, I promise you no spoilers will be spilling today, or anytime soon. Especially with this all new review for the return of the Umbrella Academy.  Before we start, I would like to say that the first season was great. Yes, it may have gotten 40 something million views on Netflix or whatever, but nobody I knew had heard of the Umbrella Academy ( apart from my sister and her friends ). Umbrella Academy was almost the sleeper hit that Stranger Things almost got when it came out but after the reception both shows garnered, calling them sleeper hits were not appropriate anymore.  Anyways, to recap; Season 1 introduced us to the members of The Umbrella Academy; Number One also known as Luthe...

Netflix's First Action Franchise - Probably (The Old Guard)

Image
Yet again, late to the party but I managed to enjoy this movie as much as the next person. From the poster above, you can see that I am talking about Netflix's latest action blockbuster, The Old Guard. Starring Charlize Theron, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood.  Before I start rambling about how good this movie is, I found out - right after watching the movie - that The Old Guard is based on a comic book series with the same name created by Greg Rucka which further proves that movies based on comic books are the best pitch sales for scripts these days. Better yet, having a gay couple as the main cast shows how far the movie industry has come to showing that diversity and inclusiveness is better than ever with this movie.  Now, where was I? Right. I was about to tell you how good this movie was. Netflix has made many movies over the years, including action movies. Not many of them have been compelling but lately they have been with the likes of  6 Underground starring Rya...

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga

Image
I could not think of a clever review title for this movie's review so, I just stuck with what the movie was called because it already sounded like it gives you a sense of what the movie already about. I did not get to watch this the day it was released but I finally got to watch it today and I surprisingly liked it more than I expected. Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (Why is it such a mouthful?) is funny, quirky and as fun as you would imagine a Will Ferrel movie would be.  Fun fact; apparently Eurovision is a real singing competition that I did not know existed where Celine Dion competed in. This competition is based only in Europe and it is known to have performers that are eccentric and over the top.  Of course, a movie about a band participating in such a competition would have to be extremely eccentric and over the top. The Fire Saga, that comprises Lars, who has always dreamed of participating and winning the Eurovision contest and his partner, Sigrid, w...

The Musical That Defined The Last Decade (Hamilton)

Image
Hamilton is the only live-recorded-from-Broadway musical I have ever seen and I do not regret watching it one bit. Hamilton has been a global phenomenon since its debut five years ago on the Broadway stage where the musical tells the story of Alexander Hamilton through a series of songs that comprised both the pop and hip-hop genre's and making the final product into a Tony winning musical that everyone is always dying to see whenever they head to New York. But, unfortunately, due to the corona virus, no tickets have been sold for the latest rerun of Hamilton. Thanks to Netflix's current competitor, Disney+, now features a live recording of Hamilton from 2016 and it is available to watch now. I know some of you are not Disney + subscribers but I know you guys watch movies somewhere, right? Wink, Wink.  And also, did I mention that Hamilton made Lin- Manuel Miranda a household name? Well, now you know why. He has contributed in writing the songs for Moana, starred in Mary Poppin...

The Government decides to hire to figure out how to communicate with the aliens that reside in the ships and... that is all i can say for whoever that is reading this and has not watched this for that I do not wanna spoil you the rest of this super mind-boggling ...

Movies I Watched during The Quarantine

Image
As we all know, all of us have been stuck at home for almost four months. We couldn't be able to meet with friends and family, to go the theater or have any human contact. Due to this, with the help of revolutionized technology, we had the ability to stream any show or TV Show any time we want (just as long as you had fast internet connection). During the quarantine, these were the movies I managed to watch. These are the movies that were released during the quarantine. 1. The Willoughbys  The Willoughbys was apparently an original animated movie about children with the worst parents ever. ( You think this is exaggerated but, they really are the worst). Released on Netflix, this vibrant animated feature, not made by Disney, turned out be charming and fun as most high calibre animated movies these days. The film also features Alessia Cara in her first acting job ever and she does as well most. By the way, she sings in it too. I mean, why not right?  Whoever that has watched it,...
