Terminator Dark Fate

After three sequels and two reboots, the Terminator franchise is back on track as a box office darling. Took them almost three decades to get it right amongst fans and critics alike.

As we all know that T1 and T2 are the best Terminator movies ever made. The worst one in my opinion would be the third one, Rise of The Machines. Watching T3 felt repetitive. It was the same whole thing again where a Terminator was sent from the future to kill someone (who was John Connor's wife at the time), future John sends another version T-8000 to protect her who is, of course, Arnold Schwarzenegger and you know the rest, defeat the terminator and save the future.

I sort of liked Salvation. It was unlike the others. Meant to be reboot of the franchise to tell the story of the future timeline where John is already the leader of the resistance and how it leads up to him sending Kyle Reese to the past to protect his mom, Sarah but that ended up being only one movie which was good enough.

The most recent attempt at a reboot, which I also sort of liked, was Genisys. Takes place in an alternate universe when right before sending Kyle to the past, John is murdered and when Kyle ends up in the past, he finds that Sarah is already with Arnie waiting to kill original terminator that was supposed to kill her. Although, John isn't dead and ends up being the evil Terminator in that one.

Now that the recap is done, all of the sequels weren't as good as the first two and everyone has been pretty disappointed ever since. When they announced another Terminator movie, everybody was shrugging it off, knowing it was just going to disappoint again. But when they found out that Linda Hamilton and James Cameron were returning for the sequel, everyone turned back. When the trailer was out, fans were convinced that this maybe sequel that will save the franchise. With that, James Cameron mentioned that this new sequel will be direct sequel to Judgement Day, making the other movies being set in "alternate timelines". In other words, he was abandoning the storylines of the previous sequels and leaving to rot in movie hell.

Can Dark Fate save the franchise?... drumroll please.... Yes. Dark Fate is the best sequel and possible reboot to the franchise, giving a fresh yet similar take to a very old franchise. With Arnie and Hamilton reuniting, it only gets better. Dark Fate takes place 22 years after Judgement Day when augmented human robot, Grace (McKenzie Davis) is sent from the future to protect Dani ( Natalia Reyes). The Terminator, Rev 9 (Gabriel Luna) is similar to the terminator in T2 but somewhat a little more enhanced while it is also little more creepier.

I can't tell you more for I will be spoiling. There's not much to spoil but I shall leave it at that. Dark Fate was absolutely fun and it's non-stop action constantly keeps you going, especially with the Terminator score playing in the background. Linda Hamilton returning as Sarah was exhilarating. The minute she walks onscreen, goosebumps creep in like wildfire. She proves that she will always be one of the first female badasses ever. Arnie only appears towards the end as the machine with a heart. This shows that the Terminator franchise didn't need to depend on him this entire time. We needed Sarah.

Newcomers, Grace and Dani were cool too. They weren't bad actors or anything. They were an amazing duo and no doubt, this duo might have to continue franchise if needed to. Our new Terminator,Gabriel Luna is doing his absolute best since Ghost Rider in Agents of SHIELD.

The storyline for Dark Fate, which I can't tell you, is the same old formula but with a little more kick, if you get what I mean. Watching the movie, realising it was the same thing, got me worried but once it started progressing and the twists and turns started coming in, I wasn't worried anymore. The action scenes were awesomely another level of brutal. I guess it was R-Rated for a reason. Oh, dont forget about the cussing.

So to conclude, I would say Terminator Dark Fate is an awesome movie. You don't have to be a fan of the movies to watch this new one or maybe you do. I don't know. It's a worthy sequel and it is good enough to possibly make another set movies to follow if it stays right and true. My rating for Dark Fate would be a solid 9/10. Some may disagree, some may not.
