A Sharp Edged Mystery (Knives Out)

Knives Out is a classic murder mystery meant to pay tribute to all whodunnit classics such as famous Agatha Christie novels and episodes of Murder She Wrote and like adaptations of Agatha Christie novels, Knives Out features a stellar ensemble cast that shine through the roof.

This modern day murder mystery is based on the Harlan Thronbey and his extended family including his caretaker, Maria. One day, the house caretaker finds dear old Thronbey, throat slit on the sofa in his study, assuming that he had committed suicide. A week later, an investigation begins with Benoit Blanc, a renowned private investigator is anonymously hired to find out if it was suicide or... murder.

The star-studded ensemble include Christopher Plummer, Ana De Armas, Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Toni Collete, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Lieberher and a few more. Everyone in this movie brings their A-game to the table in this engrossing script that pulls you from one end to another. The journey to the end is a feast worth consuming and worth anyone's time, murder mystery fan or not. With the cast's strong acting, the film is even better.

The story pays tribute to all classic murder mysteries ever made at the same time being absolutely original and effective to the bar that is epic murder mysteries. If you thought Murder Mystery with Adam Sandler and Jen Aniston was good, wait till you see this one. Although considered inferior to most murder mysteries, the Netflix Murder Mustery, in my opinion, wasn' that bad for that it was mysterious yet comedic because Adam Sandler was in it. I guess that's why people didn't like it. Comparing these two movies together though, Knives Out knocks it out of the park, no doubt.

It is even better to know Knives Out is written and directed by Rian Johnson, who made Star Wars The Last Jedi. Although raved by critics, some fans thought that The Last Jedi wasn't a good Star Wars movie, which I disagree, by the way. Fans were very angered at the fact that The Last Jedi didn't give much answers but at the same time providing new questions. I agree with that but that doesn't mean it was bad. Anyways, the man who made the most controversial Star Wars movie has gotten everyone talking again for making yet another spectacle but in smaller proportions.

So I will be rating Knives Out an epic rate of 10/10 for it is undeniably amazing from the sets to the writing to the acting. Go watch Knives Out if you haven't. You won't regret it.
