No One Can Hear You Scream Underwater

Happy New Year everyone. It's an all new year of movies and this may not be the first movie I'm watching for the new year but I think this should be the first movie I should review for the year.

Do you guys remember a movie called Alien that was released back in the late 80s and became one of the most iconic sci-fi movies ever made? Yeah... a new movie called Underwater has been released and it has somewhat a similar concept to Alien. You'd think they would do something new to an already masterfully done imagining. They dont unfortunately. Starring Kristen Stewart and a bunch of actors you don't see in many movies except for T.J. Miller, Underwater is yet another place where no can hear you scream.

What I can give credit for is the effects for the creatures. The sea monsters look exceptionally scary for the horror part of this film but look somewhat man-made. I guess that's for the science fiction part. I could be wrong but if they make a sequel, there is a possibility that these horrifying looking sea creatures are not made from the wonders of nature but instead the stupidity of human experimentation. Not that I'm asking for a sequel but... you know. What lacked for me was that movie was annoyingly dark. As in you cannot see alot of the movie. Although it is not as dark as the The Long Night episode in Game of Thrones so, it's not that bad. You can sort of see what's happening.

I am once again saying that I am so glad that Kristen Stewart is acting in such great roles now. There was Charile' Angels and I thought she was the best angel and now she's a badass woman saving everyone. Although her acting tropes weren't fully utilised for this film, but she did a good for trying to be a badass while being massively afraid. We don't see TJ Miller a whole lot but he was funny as ever no matter the circumstance.

Theres nothing much to say about Underwater for that it was both good and bad. Unfortunately there was more good than bad. I'll be rating this 'underwater' sci-fi thriller a 5/10..
